SENATE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to  
3learn of the death of
Dennis A. "Denny" Marquardt of 
4Bloomington, who passed away on December 15, 2011; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Dennis Marquardt was born on December 24, 1954, in 
6Bloomington; he was the son of Carl and Margie Haas Marquardt; 
7he married Barbara Scott on June 7, 1980; and
  
 
8    WHEREAS, Dennis Marquardt graduated from Bloomington High 
9School in 1973; he was employed at Fred's Spudnuts prior to 
10purchasing the business on April 1, 1974; after changing the 
11name of the business to Denny's Doughnuts, he served the 
12community from several locations in Bloomington-Normal over 
13the years; he was also the owner and operator of Bagelman's in 
14Normal; and
  
 
15    WHEREAS, Dennis Marquardt was a member of the Second 
16Presbyterian Church in Bloomington; and
  
 
17    WHEREAS, Dennis Marquardt was the recipient of the WJBC 
18Spirit of McLean County Award, the Illinois State University 
19Golden Redbird Award, and was inducted into the BHS Hall of 
20Fame; the Red Cross acknowledged his community service with an 
21award in his name; he also received the Modern Baking

1Leadership Award and the Illinois Vocational Association 
2Business and Industry Award and was given a key to the City of 
3Bloomington when he opened his store on South Main Street in 
4Bloomington; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Dennis Marquardt was preceded in death by his 
6father; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Dennis Marquardt is survived by his wife, Barbara; 
8his sons, Ben (Andrea) Marquardt, David (Morgan) Marquardt, 
9Ryan Marquardt, and Leo Marquardt; his mother, Margie 
10Marquardt; his brothers, Gary (Jan) Marquardt and David (Gail) 
11Marquardt; his sisters, Sandy (Mike) Ireland, Judy (Howard) 
12Parker, and Diane (Dick) Swanson; and his many nieces and 
13nephews; therefore, be it
  
 
14    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL 
15ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with 
16his family and friends, the passing of Dennis A. "Denny" 
17Marquardt; and be it further
  
 
18    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
19presented to the family of Dennis Marquardt as an expression of 
20our sympathy.
