SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Earl R. Rogers of Bloomington, who passed away on December 24, 2011; and

WHEREAS, He was born September 21, 1935, in Chicago, the son of Vernon and Marie Biller Rogers; he married Kathleen Daly on May 15, 1982, in Bloomington; and

WHEREAS, He graduated from Fort Wayne Central High School, Class of 1954, and Purdue University; he worked for Pure Oil from 1954 to 1958 and Old Fort Supply from 1958 to 1972, both in Fort Wayne, Indiana; he was recruited to work in Bloomington for Builders Supply Co. in 1972 and worked there for 10 years; from 1982 to 1990, he managed ACME Brick Co. in New Orleans, Louisiana; from 1990 to 1995, he worked at West Side Forest Products; and

WHEREAS, Along with his partner, Kent Waterkotte, he started Midwest Lumber Products, retiring in 2005; after retirement, he volunteered for Habitat for Humanity, The Fuller Center for Housing, BroMenn Thrift Shop, and the Central Catholic Athletic Department; and

WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his parents; and his sister, Marie Troeger; and

WHEREAS, Earl Rogers is survived by his wife, Kathleen; his son, Michael (Angeline) Rogers; his daughter, Sheryl (Ashok Srinivasan) Rogers; his stepchildren, Bridget, Molly, and Tom Larkin; his grandchildren, Ashley Rogers, Laura Fuller, Kristen Hess, Sgt. Jordan Larkin, Noah and Jack Bradshaw, and Ashley and Nick Larkin; his brother, Vernon Rogers; and his sisters, Ramona Newell and Lucille Rogers; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Earl Rogers; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Earl Rogers as a symbol of our sincere sympathy.
