| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Evelyn J. (Wright) Prather of |
| 4 | | Chillicothe, who passed away on March 3, 2012; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Evelyn Prather was born on August 25, 1925, in |
| 6 | | Jacksonville; she was the daughter of Roscoe J. and Verneal A. |
| 7 | | (Perkins) Wright; she married William R. Prather on October 1, |
| 8 | | 1976, in Henry; and
|
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Evelyn Prather was a former employee of the State |
| 10 | | of Illinois with the Peoria regional office of the Attorney |
| 11 | | General; and
|
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Evelyn Prather served as past president, past |
| 13 | | state membership chairman, and 17th Congressional |
| 14 | | co-coordinator of the Illinois Democratic Women; her local |
| 15 | | political involvement included serving as campaign manager for |
| 16 | | her husband's campaigns and volunteering for several local, |
| 17 | | State, and national campaigns, including Attorney General Neil |
| 18 | | Hartigan and Jeanne Simon; and
|
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Evelyn Prather served as president of the Illinois |
| 20 | | Association of Senior Citizens, vice chairperson of the Peoria |
| 21 | | Citizens Committee for Economic Opportunity, regional |
|

| 1 | | coordinator for the Seven County Senior Advocacy Conference, |
| 2 | | chairman of the Chillicothe Township Heart Fund Drive, and |
| 3 | | co-chairman of Chillicothe's Claud-Elen Days Festival; she |
| 4 | | also served on the board of directors for Chillicothe Chamber |
| 5 | | of Commerce and the Rural Peoria County Council on Aging and on |
| 6 | | the advisory council of the P.C.C.E.O. Foster Grandparent |
| 7 | | Program and the Community Workshop and Training Center; and
|
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Evelyn Prather was preceded in death by her 2 |
| 9 | | sisters and her brother; and
|
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Evelyn Prather is survived by her husband, |
| 11 | | William; her son, John A. Morris; her sister, Linda Tucker; her |
| 12 | | stepchildren, Patrick Prather, Rhonda Tank, and Neil Prather; |
| 13 | | her grandchildren, Ryan Tank, Nathaniel Prather, and Nicholas |
| 14 | | Prather; and her many other family members; therefore, be it
|
| 15 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL |
| 16 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with |
| 17 | | her family and friends, the passing of Evelyn J. (Wright) |
| 18 | | Prather; and be it further
|
| 19 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
| 20 | | presented to the family of Evelyn Prather as an expression of |
| 21 | | our sympathy.
