SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Evelyn J. (Wright) Prather of
4Chillicothe, who passed away on March 3, 2012; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Evelyn Prather was born on August 25, 1925, in
6Jacksonville; she was the daughter of Roscoe J. and Verneal A.
7(Perkins) Wright; she married William R. Prather on October 1,
81976, in Henry; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Evelyn Prather was a former employee of the State
10of Illinois with the Peoria regional office of the Attorney
11General; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Evelyn Prather served as past president, past
13state membership chairman, and 17th Congressional
14co-coordinator of the Illinois Democratic Women; her local
15political involvement included serving as campaign manager for
16her husband's campaigns and volunteering for several local,
17State, and national campaigns, including Attorney General Neil
18Hartigan and Jeanne Simon; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Evelyn Prather served as president of the Illinois
20Association of Senior Citizens, vice chairperson of the Peoria
21Citizens Committee for Economic Opportunity, regional

1coordinator for the Seven County Senior Advocacy Conference,
2chairman of the Chillicothe Township Heart Fund Drive, and
3co-chairman of Chillicothe's Claud-Elen Days Festival; she
4also served on the board of directors for Chillicothe Chamber
5of Commerce and the Rural Peoria County Council on Aging and on
6the advisory council of the P.C.C.E.O. Foster Grandparent
7Program and the Community Workshop and Training Center; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Evelyn Prather was preceded in death by her 2
9sisters and her brother; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Evelyn Prather is survived by her husband,
11William; her son, John A. Morris; her sister, Linda Tucker; her
12stepchildren, Patrick Prather, Rhonda Tank, and Neil Prather;
13her grandchildren, Ryan Tank, Nathaniel Prather, and Nicholas
14Prather; and her many other family members; therefore, be it
 
15    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL
16ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
17her family and friends, the passing of Evelyn J. (Wright)
18Prather; and be it further
 
19    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
20presented to the family of Evelyn Prather as an expression of
21our sympathy.
