| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of
Patrick "Pat" Nelson, who passed away on |
| 4 | | March 10, 2012; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Patrick Nelson was born on December 6, 1936; he |
| 6 | | was the son of the late Eugene Patrick and Lydia Nelson; he |
| 7 | | married Susanne Cusack on August 2, 1958, at St. Bernard Church |
| 8 | | in Peoria; and
|
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Patrick Nelson graduated from Bradley University |
| 10 | | with a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering; and
|
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Patrick Nelson served his country as an officer in |
| 12 | | the United States Air Force; and
|
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Patrick Nelson retired from Shell Oil Company in |
| 14 | | Wood River after 35 years of service; and
|
| 15 | | WHEREAS, Patrick Nelson was a member of St. Boniface |
| 16 | | Catholic Church in Edwardsville; he was a professed Secular |
| 17 | | Franciscan and a member of Our Lady of the Angels Fraternity in |
| 18 | | Edwardsville and served as Minister of Our Lady of the Angels |
| 19 | | Fraternity for 6 years; he was a member of the Knights of |
| 20 | | Columbus Council No. 1143; he was also honored by the Vatican |

| 1 | | by being named a Knight of the Equestrian Order of the Holy |
| 2 | | Sepulchre of Jerusalem; and
|
| 3 | | WHEREAS, Patrick Nelson was preceded in death by his |
| 4 | | daughter, Kathleen Nelson; his sisters, Jacqueline Coyle and |
| 5 | | Eileen Brown; and his brother, Buddy Nelson; and
|
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Patrick Nelson is survived by his sons, Patrick J. |
| 7 | | Nelson, Jr. and wife Melissa, Daniel E. Nelson and wife Karie, |
| 8 | | and James T. Nelson and Kathryn J. Marks; his daughters, |
| 9 | | Maureen D. Schuette and husband Greg, Christine M. Nelson, and |
| 10 | | Laurie E. Bonk and husband Alan; his sister, Gayle Rogy; and |
| 11 | | his 13 grandchildren; therefore, be it
|
| 12 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL |
| 13 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with |
| 14 | | his family and friends, the passing of Patrick "Pat" Nelson; |
| 15 | | and be it further
|
| 16 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
| 17 | | presented to the family of Patrick Nelson as an expression of |
| 18 | | our sympathy.
