SENATE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to  
3learn of the death of
Mary Ellen Carter of North Chicago, who 
4passed away on March 2, 2012; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Mary Ellen Carter was born on May 25, 1926, in 
6Anderson, South Carolina; her parents were Sylvester D. and 
7Julia Clinkscales; and
  
 
8    WHEREAS, Mary Ellen Carter was last employed as a 
9housekeeping supervisor at the Veterans Administration 
10Hospital; and
  
 
11    WHEREAS, Mary Ellen Carter accepted Christ and attended the 
12First Corinthian Missionary Baptist Church in North Chicago; 
13and
  
 
14    WHEREAS, Mary Ellen Carter was preceded in death by her 
15parents; her siblings, Sylvester, Martin, and Robert 
16Clinkscales; her grandson, Michael "Snip" McBride; and her 
17brothers-in-law, Raleigh, William, and Charles; and
  
 
18    WHEREAS, Mary Ellen Carter is survived by her children, 
19Waymon Callahan, Sylvester (Dorethia) Callahan, Joyce 
20(Charles) Bean, Jo Ann (Michael) McBride, and Lou Ellen

1(Robert) Burton; her 24 grandchildren; her 84 
2great-grandchildren; her 44 great-great grandchildren; her 
3siblings, Isabella Moss, Josephine Blow, and Doris Patterson; 
4and her many nephews, nieces, cousins, and dear friends; 
5therefore, be it
  
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL 
7ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with 
8her family and friends, the passing of Mary Ellen Carter; and 
9be it further
  
 
10    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
11presented to the family of Mary Ellen Carter as an expression 
12of our sympathy.
