| 1 | SENATE RESOLUTION
| ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
| 3 | learn of the death of
Robert Arthur Dietmeyer of Gurnee, who | ||||||
| 4 | passed away on April 6, 2012; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Robert Dietmeyer was born on May 9, 1927, in | ||||||
| 6 | Burlington, Iowa; he moved to Waukegan as a child and graduated | ||||||
| 7 | from Waukegan High School in 1944; and
| ||||||
| 8 | WHEREAS, Robert Dietmeyer was a member of the United States | ||||||
| 9 | Army; he served in the 703rd Military Police Battalion in | ||||||
| 10 | Washington D.C., where he attained the rank of sergeant while | ||||||
| 11 | helping to guard President Harry Truman; and
| ||||||
| 12 | WHEREAS, After leaving the Army, Robert Dietmeyer enrolled | ||||||
| 13 | at the University of Iowa, where he graduated in 1950; he then | ||||||
| 14 | served as Manager of Corporate Benefits at Abbott Labs, where | ||||||
| 15 | he worked for 35 years until his retirement in 1986; while at | ||||||
| 16 | Abbott, he worked towards and earned his master's degree from | ||||||
| 17 | Marquette University; and
| ||||||
| 18 | WHEREAS, Robert Dietmeyer served as President of the Holy | ||||||
| 19 | Name Society of the St. Anastasia Parish in Waukegan and | ||||||
| 20 | volunteered on the Gurnee Village Civil Service Commission from | ||||||
| 21 | 1988 to 1991; he was involved with numerous charities, | ||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | including the Knights of Columbus, the Salvation Army, and the | ||||||
| 2 | American Cancer Society; he was also a founding member of the | ||||||
| 3 | St. Paul's Church Parish in Gurnee and served as a little | ||||||
| 4 | league baseball coach for all 5 of his sons with the North Side | ||||||
| 5 | A.C. in Waukegan; and
| ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, Robert Dietmeyer was preceded in death by his wife | ||||||
| 7 | of 46 years, Catherine Efinger Dietmeyer, and his parents, | ||||||
| 8 | Viola and Fred Dietmeyer; and | ||||||
| 9 | WHEREAS, Robert Dietmeyer is survived by his sons, David | ||||||
| 10 | (Nanette), Thomas, John, Philip (Susan), and James (Dara); his | ||||||
| 11 | daughters, Patricia Hook and Mary Minehart (Darwin); his | ||||||
| 12 | brother, Richard (Thelma); his grandchildren, Tony, Kelly, and | ||||||
| 13 | Keith Morse and Colleen, Desiree, and Jimmy Dietmeyer; and his | ||||||
| 14 | many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 15 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL | ||||||
| 16 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with | ||||||
| 17 | his family and friends, the passing of Robert Arthur Dietmeyer; | ||||||
| 18 | and be it further
| ||||||
| 19 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 20 | presented to the family of Robert Dietmeyer as an expression of | ||||||
| 21 | our sympathy.
