| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Sammie Mae Criss of Chicago, who passed |
| 4 | | away on March 30, 2012; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, She was born on March 2, 1926 in Memphis, |
| 6 | | Tennessee, to Lula Crawford Jones and Samuel Jones; she married |
| 7 | | James Criss on May 18, 1946; and
|
| 8 | | WHEREAS, She was affectionately known as "Momma" to many |
| 9 | | who knew and loved her; and
|
| 10 | | WHEREAS, She confessed Christ in Memphis before relocating |
| 11 | | to Chicago; in 1982, she joined the Tremont Tabernacle Baptist |
| 12 | | Church under the pastor and founder, J.W. Fields; she was a |
| 13 | | Pastor's Aide and a member of the Nurse's Aide Board; and
|
| 14 | | WHEREAS, She was preceded in death by her sister, Margaret |
| 15 | | A. Woods; her husband, James Criss; her eldest son, James |
| 16 | | Criss; and her youngest daughter, Madilyn Criss; and
|
| 17 | | WHEREAS, Sammie Mae Criss is survived by her brother, |
| 18 | | Freddie Criss; her sons, Narvel and Ray; her daughter, Diana |
| 19 | | (DeWayne); her grandchildren, Antionette, Kevin, Bryan, Corey, |
| 20 | | James, Michael, Joyce, Eddie, Nicole, Renona, Samantha, |
