SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Deborah Lynn Millner of Carol Stream; she was the beloved wife of Illinois State Senator John Millner; and

WHEREAS, She and Senator Millner met when then Officer Millner escorted a suspect to the hospital where she worked as an X-ray technician; they spent many years covering much of the continental United States and Canada in a Corvette and a tent; they married on Three Kings Day, January 6, 1978, in St. Thomas in the U.S. Virgin Islands; and

WHEREAS, For the next 34 years Debbie stood next to her John for all the best and worse life had to offer, making a loving and nurturing home; and

WHEREAS, She was a loving mother, teaching her children to enjoy crafts, reading, and educational trips; she pushed both her kids to always take every opportunity to better themselves; she was an excited grandmother, thrilled with the birth of their first grandchild; she shared a special bond with him that was rare; she was able to enjoy the first photos of her second grandchild before her passing; and

WHEREAS, She was a much loved big sister who enjoyed making her sisters laugh; she enjoyed playing tricks on them; she also hooked her sisters on crafts and brought home many stray animals over her childhood days; and

WHEREAS, As with her immediate family, Debbie pushed her friends and extended family members to be better people; her engaging laugh and never ending reach to those who needed her made Debbie special to all around her; and

WHEREAS, She was a dedicated and loving educator, teaching seventh grade science at Stratford Middle School in Bloomingdale; she is remembered for pushing her students to be the best they could be; she had a passion to create an environment for children to crave learning which encouraged them to make the necessary connections to put that learning into practice; and

WHEREAS, She was a passionate advocate for access to clean water and food for everyone; her mission in life was to do her part, whenever she could, to make a positive difference in the lives of others; and

WHEREAS, She was the loving wife of Illinois State Senator John Millner; she was the loving mother of Laurie Salameh and John J. Millner, Jr.; she was the mother-in-law of Estephan Salameh; she was the proud grandmother of Luca and Sabrina; and she was the dear sister of Dawn (Ben) Scott, Laurie (David) Jones, and Lisa (Matt) Waterman; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with her family and friends, the passing of Deborah Millner; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Deborah Millner as a symbol of our sincere sympathy.
