| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of
Amiel Stephen Cueto, who passed away on |
| 4 | | May 28, 2012; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Amiel Cueto was born on February 22, 1949, in East |
| 6 | | St. Louis; he grew up on 40th and Waverly in East St. Louis and |
| 7 | | was a member of the Holy Angels Parish; and
|
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Amiel Cueto graduated from East St. Louis Senior |
| 9 | | High School in 1967; he earned his bachelor's degree in |
| 10 | | administration of justice from University of Missouri in St. |
| 11 | | Louis and his master's degree in urban affairs from St. Louis |
| 12 | | University; he later earned his juris doctorate from St. Louis |
| 13 | | University School of Law in 1980; and
|
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Amiel Cueto served as a military policeman in the |
| 15 | | United States Army; he was also employed as an officer for the |
| 16 | | St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department in the 9th district |
| 17 | | from 1970 to 1976; and
|
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Amiel Cueto was a member of the DuBourg Society at |
| 19 | | St. Louis University; and
|
| 20 | | WHEREAS, Amiel Cueto was preceded in death by his parents, |

| 1 | | Eloy and Louise, nee Peterson, Cueto; his aunt, Marie Thornton; |
| 2 | | his uncle, Julius "Hank" Cueto; and his lifelong friend, Don |
| 3 | | Llamas; and |
| 4 | | WHEREAS, Amiel Cueto is survived by his wife of 40 years, |
| 5 | | Elaine, nee Rogers, Cueto; his daughter, Kara (Roger) Osthoff; |
| 6 | | his son, Gregory (Chasity) Cueto; his grandchildren, David and |
| 7 | | Cecilia Osthoff and Paul, Lilian, and Rose Cueto; his brothers, |
| 8 | | Lloyd (Patricia) Cueto, Christopher (Rebecca) Cueto, and David |
| 9 | | "Dude" Cueto; his sister, Maria "Rere" Hartlein; his aunt, |
| 10 | | Ines, nee Cueto, Bratton; and his many nieces, nephews, |
| 11 | | cousins, in-laws, and friends; therefore, be it
|
| 12 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL |
| 13 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with |
| 14 | | his family and friends, the passing of Amiel Stephen Cueto; and |
| 15 | | be it further
|
| 16 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
| 17 | | presented to the family of Amiel Cueto as an expression of our |
| 18 | | sympathy.
