| 1 | SENATE RESOLUTION

| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are deeply | ||||||
| 3 | saddened to learn of the death of Dr. Ronald G. Rathke of | ||||||
| 4 | Carlinville, who passed away on November 29, 2012; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Dr. Ronald Rathke was born on November 7, 1934, to | ||||||
| 6 | Irvin and Kathryn Elizabeth (Price) Rathke in Litchfield; he | ||||||
| 7 | graduated from Carlinville High School in 1952 and married | ||||||
| 8 | Carolyn Ann Calverd at the Federated Church in Carlinville on | ||||||
| 9 | June 5, 1955; he attended Blackburn College and graduated from | ||||||
| 10 | Washington University School of Dentistry in 1959; he served in | ||||||
| 11 | the U.S. Air Force as a captain at Offut Air Force Base in | ||||||
| 12 | Omaha, Nebraska, until 1961; and
| ||||||
| 13 | WHEREAS, Dr. Ronald Rathke opened a dental practice in | ||||||
| 14 | Carlinville in 1961; he remained there serving the area until | ||||||
| 15 | his retirement in 1993; and
| ||||||
| 16 | WHEREAS, Dr. Ronald Rathke loved to spend time with his | ||||||
| 17 | family, hunt, fish, garden, and travel; he was an animal lover | ||||||
| 18 | and he was involved with extensive reforesting projects through | ||||||
| 19 | the State of Illinois Conservation Department; in 1984 and 1985 | ||||||
| 20 | he planted over 7,000 black walnut trees on his property; he | ||||||
| 21 | served on the Carlinville Public School board for 19 years, was | ||||||
| 22 | a founder of the Carlinville Public School Foundation, and a | ||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | lifelong supporter and advocate of the Carlinville School | ||||||
| 2 | District; he was a member of the Carlinville United Methodist | ||||||
| 3 | Church and a board member for Farmers and Merchants National | ||||||
| 4 | Bank in Carlinville; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Dr. Ronald Rathke was preceded in death by his | ||||||
| 6 | parents, Irvin and Kathryn Elizabeth Rathke and his | ||||||
| 7 | sister-in-law, Joyce Weller; and
| ||||||
| 8 | WHEREAS, Dr. Ronald Rathke is survived by his wife, | ||||||
| 9 | Carolyn; his daughters, Denise Boente (Dr. Steven), Cheryl | ||||||
| 10 | Davis (Shawn), and Lynne Evans (Robert); his grandchildren, Dr. | ||||||
| 11 | Erin Boente, Elyse Srygley (Trey), Stephen Boente, Michael | ||||||
| 12 | Davis (fiance Alicia Robinson), Nicholas Evans, and Elisabeth | ||||||
| 13 | Evans; his brother-in-law, Floyd Weller; his nieces, nephews, | ||||||
| 14 | and cousins; and his dog, Katie; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 15 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL | ||||||
| 16 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
| 17 | Dr. Ronald Rathke, and we extend our sincere condolences to his | ||||||
| 18 | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||
| 19 | further

| 20 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 21 | presented to the family of Dr. Ronald Rathke as an expression | ||||||
| 22 | of our deepest sympathy.
