Synopsis As Introduced
Amends the Department of Transportation Law of the Civil Administrative Code of Illinois. Provides that for the duration of a road construction project, the Department of Transportation shall erect signage directing the public to each business impacted by the construction project. Provides that the signage shall: (1) inform the public that the business is open and accessible; and (2) direct the public to alternative places and routes for parking. Provides that the Department shall adopt rules to implement the new provisions.

Replaces everything after the enacting clause. Provides that the Department of Transportation, prior to commencement of a construction project, shall work with affected businesses, residents, and other community members to mitigate project impacts, including but not limited to the possible posting of signs and detour routing.

Senate Floor Amendment No. 1
Requires notification of affected businesses in addition to local public officials prior to the commencement of construction projects that require the closure of a street or traffic lanes.
