Synopsis As Introduced
Amends the School Code. Requires a school board to consult with law enforcement and security experts in the design and planning stages of the construction of any new school building or any additions to or major remodeling of an existing school building.

Senate Floor Amendment No. 1
Replaces everything after the enacting clause. Reinserts the contents of the bill with the following additions. Provides that the amendatory provisions apply only to buildings that students physically occupy. Provides that the amendatory provisions do not apply to out-buildings, maintenance buildings that are not affixed to existing school buildings, or concession stands. Provides that the amendatory provisions apply only to construction, additions, or remodeling that meets the requirements of certain provisions of the School Code concerning competitive bidding.
