Synopsis As Introduced
Amends the Conservation District Act. Provides that a district may annually levy a tax of 0.025% for the purposes of educational programming, equipment, supplies, and funding for research projects in association with endangered Illinois species and the preservation of historic sites. Provides that a district may not levy annual taxes, in the aggregate, in excess of 0.125% (currently, 0.1%).

Senate Committee Amendment No. 1
Replaces everything after the enacting clause. Amends the Conservation District Act. Provides that a district located wholly within McHenry County may levy a tax of 0.15% for the general purposes of the district. Prohibits a tax from being extended at a rate that will result in accumulation of any amount representing more than 0.325% of the equalized assessed valuation of the district.

Sets forth referendum requirements for a district seeking to levy a rate that exceeds 0.1%.
