2 | | AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 226 by replacing |
3 | | everything after the enacting clause with the following:

4 | | "Section 5. The Election Code is amended by adding Section |
5 | | 3-6 as follows: |
6 | | (10 ILCS 5/3-6 new) |
7 | | Sec. 3-6. Voting age. Notwithstanding any other provision |
8 | | of law, a person who is 17 years old on the date of a primary |
9 | | election and who is otherwise qualified to vote is qualified to |
10 | | vote at that primary, including voting an absentee, grace |
11 | | period, or early voting ballot with respect to that primary, if |
12 | | that person will be 18 years old on the date of the immediately |
13 | | following general election or consolidated election. |
14 | | References in this Code and elsewhere to the requirement |
15 | | that a person must be 18 years old to vote shall be interpreted |
16 | | in accordance with this Section. |
