| 2 | | AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 1156, AS AMENDED, by |
| 3 | | inserting the following in its proper numeric sequence:

| 4 | | "Section 40. Locking devices and safe storage for |
| 5 | | prohibited weapons. At any time when a person exempted from |
| 6 | | the prohibition on possessing weapons under this Act is not in |
| 7 | | immediate possession of a prohibited weapon owned or
controlled |
| 8 | | by that person, he or she must keep a locking device or |
| 9 | | mechanism on the
prohibited weapon that renders the prohibited |
| 10 | | weapon temporarily inoperable, including but not limited to a
|
| 11 | | device that attaches to the prohibited weapon with a key or |
| 12 | | combination lock, and is designed to prevent the prohibited |
| 13 | | weapon from being discharged unless the device has been |
| 14 | | deactivated. If the
prohibited weapon is incapable of accepting |
| 15 | | a locking device, the person must keep the prohibited weapon
|
| 16 | | unloaded and placed within a securely locked box or container |
| 17 | | that requires a key or
combination lock to open.".
