AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 1443 




2    AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 1443 by replacing 
3everything after the enacting clause with the following:

 
4    "Section 5. The Criminal Code of 2012 is amended by adding 
5Section 12C-50.1 as follows:
 
6    (720 ILCS 5/12C-50.1 new)
7    Sec. 12C-50.1. Failure to report hazing.
8    (a)  For purposes of this Section,  "school official" 
9includes a teacher, guidance counselor, support staff, coach, 
10or volunteer coach employed by a school, college, university, 
11or other educational institution of this State. 
12    (b)  A school official commits failure to report hazing when 
13he or she fails to report to law enforcement any conduct he or 
14she reasonably believes to be hazing under Section 12C-50 of 
15this Code, when the hazing is:
16        (1)  reported to school or educational institution

1    authorities by others; or
2        (2)  an incident of which school or educational 
3    authorities otherwise have knowledge.
4    (c)  Sentence.  Failure to report hazing is a Class A 
5misdemeanor. 
 

6    Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon 
7becoming law.".
