| 2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,

| 3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
| 4 | | Section 5. The State Commemorative Dates Act is amended by |
| 5 | | adding Section 175 as follows:
|
| 6 | | (5 ILCS 490/175 new) |
| 7 | | Sec. 175. Mother Mary Ann Bickerdyke Day. The second |
| 8 | | Wednesday in May of each year is designated as Mother Mary Ann |
| 9 | | Bickerdyke Day, to be observed throughout the State as a day |
| 10 | | set apart to honor Mother Mary Ann Bickerdyke of Galesburg, |
| 11 | | military nurses, and the contribution of nurses to the State of |
| 12 | | Illinois and the United States of America.

| 13 | | Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon |
| 14 | | becoming law.
|
