| 6 | | Any licensee holding a current National Board for |
| 7 | | Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS) Master Teacher |
| 8 | | designation during any particular fiscal year shall complete a |
| 9 | | minimum of 5 hours of professional development, which may |
| 10 | | include providing professional development that aligns to |
| 11 | | NBPTS standards, for each year of the renewal cycle. A total of |
| 12 | | 50 hours of professional development per 5-year renewal cycle |
| 13 | | must be completed in order to renew a license. |
| 14 | | Beginning on July 1, 2013, individuals holding an Illinois |
| 15 | | National Board for Professional Teaching Standards endorsement |
| 16 | | issued pursuant to the requirements of Section 21-2 of this |
| 17 | | Code must have a current certificate issued by the National |
| 18 | | Board for Professional Teaching Standards in order to maintain |
| 19 | | the Illinois National Board for Professional Teaching |
| 20 | | Standards endorsement. |
| 21 | | Any individual who, on or after July 1, 2012, has been |
| 22 | | issued a Master Certificate pursuant to Section 21-2 of this |
| 23 | | Code or a National Board for Professional Teaching Standards |
| 24 | | designation on a Professional Educator License pursuant to this |
| 25 | | Section may work as a teacher only in an area for which he or |
| 26 | | she holds the required Illinois endorsement. Any individual |

| 1 | | who, prior to June 30, 2012, has been issued an endorsement for |
| 2 | | a particular area on a Master Certificate may work as a teacher |
