| 1 | | AN ACT concerning education.
|
| 2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
| 3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
| 4 | | Section 10. The Communicable Disease Prevention Act is |
| 5 | | amended by adding Section 1.10 as follows: |
| 6 | | (410 ILCS 315/1.10 new) |
| 7 | | Sec. 1.10. Meningococcal conjugate vaccine. The Department |
| 8 | | of Public Health shall adopt a rule requiring students, upon |
| 9 | | entering the 6th and 12th grade of any public, private, or |
| 10 | | parochial school, to receive an immunization containing |
| 11 | | meningococcal conjugate vaccine that meets the standards |
| 12 | | approved by the U.S. Public Health Service for such biological |
| 13 | | products and is in accordance with the recommendations of the |
| 14 | | Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's Advisory |
| 15 | | Committee on Immunization Practices. The immunization shall |
| 16 | | consist of one dose of the MCV4 vaccine for 6th grade entrance |
| 17 | | and 2 doses for 12th grade entrance, unless the first dose was |
| 18 | | administered to a child who was 16 years of age or older, in |
| 19 | | which case only one dose is required at 12th grade entrance. |
| 20 | | However, if the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention |
| 21 | | Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices' recommendations |
| 22 | | for adolescents are updated, then the requirement under this |
| 23 | | Section should reflect those changes to be current. The |
