AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 3700




2    AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 3700 by replacing 
3everything after the enacting clause with the following:

 
4    "Section 5. The School Code is amended  by adding Section 
52-3.160 as follows:
 
6    (105 ILCS 5/2-3.160 new)
7    Sec. 2-3.160. Definition of dyslexia in rules; reading 
8instruction advisory group. 
9    (a)  The State Board of Education shall adopt rules that 
10incorporate an international definition of dyslexia into Part 
11226 of Title 23 of the Illinois Administrative Code.
12    (b)  Subject to specific State appropriation or the 
13availability of private donations, the State Board of Education 
14shall establish an advisory group to develop a training module 
15or training modules to provide education and professional 
16development to teachers, school administrators, and other

1education professionals regarding multi-sensory, systematic, 
2and sequential instruction in reading. This advisory group 
3shall complete its work before July 31, 2015 and is abolished 
4on July 31, 2015.
 

5    Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon 
6becoming law.".
