1    AN ACT concerning local government.
  
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
 
3represented in the General Assembly:
  


 
4    Section 5. The Park District Code is amended  by adding 
5Sections 2-27 and 2-28 as follows:
 
6    (70 ILCS 1205/2-27 new)
7    Sec. 2-27. Board of elected and appointed commissioners.
8    (a) On and after the effective date of this amendatory Act 
9of the 98th General Assembly, the Plainfield Park District  that 
10currently has a board of 5 commissioners shall have a board of 
117 commissioners, consisting of the current 5 elected 
12commissioners and 2 newly appointed commissioners.
13    (b) In addition to the 5 elected commissioners, there shall 
14be newly appointed 2 commissioners appointed as follows:
15        (1) The member of the House of Representatives of the 
16    district in which the Plainfield Park District 
17    predominantly is located shall appoint one commissioner.
18        (2) The member of the Senate of the district in which 
19    the Plainfield Park District predominantly is located 
20    shall appoint one commissioner.
21    (c) The terms of the newly appointed commissioners shall 
22commence within 6 months of the effective date of this 
23amendatory Act of the 98th General Assembly. Those 2

1commissioners shall serve on the board until the next 
2consolidated election following this amendatory Act of the 98th 
3General Assembly. Thereafter, the 2 new commissioners shall be 
4elected in the same manner as the other 5 elected commissioners 
5as provided under this Code. The 2 elected at the next 
6consolidated election following this amendatory act of the 98th 
7General Assembly shall each serve a 2-year term. Thereafter, 
8the individuals elected to the positions created under this 
9Section shall each serve a 6-year term.
10    (d) A vacancy in the office of an appointed commissioner 
11shall be declared and filled as provided under Section 2-25 of 
12this Code. 
13    (e) This Section is repealed on June 1, 2017. 
 
14    (70 ILCS 1205/2-28 new)
15    Sec. 2-28. Plainfield Park District board. On and after 
16April 4, 2017, the Plainfield Park District shall have a board 
17of 7 commissioners to be elected as provided under Section 
182-10a of this Code.

 
19    Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon 
20becoming law.
