AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 5793




2    AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 5793 by replacing 
3everything after the enacting clause with the following:


 
 
4    "Section 1. Short title. This Act may be cited as the 
5Uniform Racial Classification Act.
 
6    Section 5. Uniform racial classification.  Notwithstanding 
7any other provision of law, except as otherwise required by 
8federal law or regulation, whenever a State agency is required 
9by law to compile or report statistical data using racial or 
10ethnic classifications, that State agency shall use the 
11following classifications: (i) White; (ii) Black or African 
12American; (iii) American Indian or Alaska Native; (iv) Asian; 
13(v) Native Hawaiian or Other Pacific Islander; or (vi) Hispanic 
14or Latino.
15    For the purposes of this Act, "State agency" means the 
16offices of the constitutional officers identified in Article V

1of the Illinois Constitution, executive agencies, and 
2departments, boards, commissions, and authorities under the 
3Governor.
 
 
4    Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon 
5becoming law.".
