Amends the Downstate Police and Firefighter Articles of the Illinois Pension Code. Provide that the municipality is entitled to appear, as a matter of right, in any proceeding involving a duty disability benefit. Effective immediately.

| 1 | | AN ACT in relation to public employee benefits.

| 2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
| 3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
| 4 | | Section 5. The Illinois Pension Code is amended by adding |
| 5 | | Sections 3-148.5 and 4-139.5 as follows:
|

| 7 | | Sec. 3-148.5. Right of employer to intervene. If not |
| 8 | | otherwise a party, the municipality is entitled to appear, as a |
