HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, It is fitting and proper to never forget those who 
3have given their lives and shed their blood in defense of this 
4great nation; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, A Purple Heart Trail system is well established 
6throughout a large part of the United States Interstate Highway 
7System and the United States National Highway System in the 
8lower 48 states, as well as highways in Alaska, Guam, and 
9Puerto Rico; and
  
 
10    WHEREAS, The State of Illinois is located in an area that 
11is part of the national Purple Heart Trail system and adding 
12Illinois to the Trail will add credence to those dedicated 
13routes; and
  
 
14    WHEREAS, The State of Illinois is proud to join this worthy 
15effort to establish a Purple Heart Trail across our great 
16country; and
  
 
17    WHEREAS, The placement of signs indicating the Purple Heart 
18Trail will show that Illinois is a part of this nationally 
19existing system; and
  
 
20    WHEREAS, U.S. Route 41 is an excellent choice to establish

1the Purple Heart Trail in the State of Illinois; therefore, be 
2it
  
 
3    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
4NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, THE 
5SENATE CONCURRING HEREIN, that we designate the portion of U.S. 
6Route 41 within the State of Illinois as a part of the Purple 
7Heart Trail that exists throughout the U.S. highway system; and 
8be it further
  
 
9    RESOLVED, That the Illinois Department of Transportation 
10is requested to erect at suitable locations, consistent with 
11State and federal regulations, appropriate plaques or signs 
12giving notice of the name of the Purple Heart Trail; and be it 
13further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
15delivered to the Secretary of the Illinois Department of 
16Transportation.
