HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, It is appropriate for the members of this body to 
3remember the many sacrifices and contributions to the cause of 
4freedom made by the outstanding generation of men and women who 
5served in World War II; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, United States Army Private George Allan Jones was 
7born on September 29, 1925 in Mulkeytown; he was the son of the 
8late Burl and Fannie Jones; and
  
 
9    WHEREAS, Private George Jones was a member of the United 
10States Army, serving in the European theatre with Company A, 
11329th Infantry Regiment of the 83rd Infantry Division; and

  
 
12    WHEREAS, Private George Jones gave his life defending 
13America's freedom on August 8, 1944 near St. Malo in France; 
14therefore, be it
  
 
15    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
16NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, THE 
17SENATE CONCURRING HEREIN, that we designate the portion of 
18Illinois Highway 184 from Mulkeytown to Royalton as the Private 
19George Allan Jones Memorial Highway to honor the sacrifice of 
20Private George Jones and all who served during World War II; 
21and be it further

1    RESOLVED, That the Illinois Department of Transportation 
2is requested to erect at suitable locations, consistent with 
3State and federal regulations, appropriate plaques or signs 
4giving notice of the name of the Private George Allan Jones 
5Memorial Highway; and be it further
 
6    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
7delivered to the Secretary of the Illinois Department of 
8Transportation.
