| 2 | | WHEREAS, Many thousands of Illinoisans have had their |
| 3 | | health insurance plans cancelled and many more thousands will |
| 4 | | soon face cancellation in 2014 as a direct result of the |
| 5 | | Affordable Care Act; and
|
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Many Illinois families that were forced into the |
| 7 | | Affordable Care Act health insurance exchange are now facing |
| 8 | | higher deductibles, higher premiums, and limited provider |
| 9 | | networks, or are forgoing insurance coverage altogether; and
|
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Some Illinois lawmakers are seeking to adopt a |
| 11 | | State-based health insurance exchange under the Affordable |
| 12 | | Care Act that could cost Illinoisans more than $100 million; |
| 13 | | and
|
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Illinois lawmakers are receiving generous |
| 15 | | taxpayer-funded health premium subsidies toward their Illinois |
| 16 | | State Employees' Group Insurance Program benefits; and
|
| 17 | | WHEREAS, Illinois lawmakers participating in the program |
| 18 | | may pay anywhere from $119 to $211 per month in Fiscal Year |
| 19 | | 2014 for their own coverage, which is a fraction of the true |
| 20 | | insurance coverage cost to taxpayers; therefore, be it
