HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to congratulate  the owners and employees 
4of Gale Street Inn in Chicago on the occasion of the 
5restaurant's 50th anniversary; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, Gale Street Inn was established in 1963 by George 
7and Joan Chioles in a small tavern across the street from its 
8current location; the tavern originally served sandwiches 
9until Louie Artis, a Gale Street cook, told the Chioles that he 
10had a great recipe for baby back ribs; Gale Street Inn has been 
11famous for its ribs ever since; and
  
 
12    WHEREAS, In 1968, the Chioles were forced to relocate 
13across the street due to the construction of the Jefferson Park 
14Transit Center; in 1985, the Chioles sold the Gale Street Inn 
15to Harry Karzas, the father of its current owner, George 
16Karzas; and

  
 
17    WHEREAS, The Gale Street Inn welcomes patrons from 
18throughout the City of Chicago and the surrounding suburbs with 
19its fantastic ribs, live music, and bar; therefore, be it
  
 
20    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
21NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that

1we congratulate the owners and employees of Gale Street Inn on 
2the occasion of the tavern's 50th anniversary and thank for 
3their many years of dedicated service to the people of the City 
4of Chicago; and be it further
  
 
5    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
6presented to George Karzas as a symbol of our esteem and 
7respect.
