HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate Chief Ronald C. Levin on his 50 years of service with the Winthrop Harbor Fire Department; and

WHEREAS, Chief Ronald Levin started with the Winthrop Harbor Fire Department in July of 1963 at the age of 21; he moved up to engineer in April of 1966, where his primary job was driving and pumping the fire engines for fires; in 1972, he moved up to lieutenant and in 1985 to the rank of captain; during his rise in the Winthrop Harbor Fire Department, he took on added duties; in 1975, he obtained his EMT-Basic license and in 1984 he took on an additional job with the Zion Fire Department, where he worked for 22 years; and

WHEREAS, Chief Ronald Levin has been responsible for many improvements that have helped shape fire service; he helped create and assisted in the Quad One North, a plan where multiple departments respond to fires so that there are always adequate firefighters on the scene; and

WHEREAS, Chief Ronald Levin was promoted to deputy chief in 2004; as deputy chief he assisted in training new recruits; in 2008, he was on the committee that put together the department's first ladder truck "1731"; and

WHEREAS, Chief Ronald Levin was promoted to Fire Chief of the Winthrop Harbor Fire Department in 2009; he has served the department with deep commitment and support through both the rough times and good times; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we honor Chief Ronald Levin's 50 years of service to the Winthrop Harbor Fire Department and we wish him well on his future endeavours; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Chief Ronald Levin as an expression of our esteem and respect.
