| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Mary Ann | ||||||
| 4 | "Bunny" Thelen of Spring Grove, who passed away on January 27, | ||||||
| 5 | 2013; and
| ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, Mary Ann Thelen was born on Easter Sunday to Jake | ||||||
| 7 | and Tillie Stoffel; she was married to the late Vern Thelen for | ||||||
| 8 | nearly 55 years; and
| ||||||
| 9 | WHEREAS, Mary Ann Thelen graduated from McHenry High School | ||||||
| 10 | in 1948; and
| ||||||
| 11 | WHEREAS, Mary Ann Thelen was the founder of the Vern and | ||||||
| 12 | Bunny Thelen Family Foundation; her love of children and her | ||||||
| 13 | community inspired her to create the Thelen Family Park in | ||||||
| 14 | Spring Grove; and
| ||||||
| 15 | WHEREAS, Mary Ann Thelen was a member of the McHenry | ||||||
| 16 | Country Club, the Spring Valley Country Club, the Country Creek | ||||||
| 17 | Country Club, the Antioch Ladies Club, the Red Hat Society of | ||||||
| 18 | Estero, Florida, and the Women's Club of St Peter's in Spring | ||||||
| 19 | Grove; and | ||||||
| 20 | WHEREAS, Mary Ann Thelen was a Rotary Paul Harris Fellow | ||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | and was involved in the Rotary Anns; she was a co-founder of | ||||||
| 2 | Lake County's Chain O' Lakes 4-H club; she operated the | ||||||
| 3 | Share-the-Fun Program for the 4-H Club for many years and was | ||||||
| 4 | able to bring the program to the Illinois State Fair; she also | ||||||
| 5 | helped organize the Lake County Fair Horse Show for many years | ||||||
| 6 | and was the operator of the Little Orchard Farm's Horse Show in | ||||||
| 7 | Antioch; and
| ||||||
| 8 | WHEREAS, Mary Ann Thelen was an avid traveler and served as | ||||||
| 9 | activity director of the ForeTravel club; she visited all 50 | ||||||
| 10 | states and more than 50 countries; she also wintered in Estero, | ||||||
| 11 | Florida for over 20 years; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 12 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
| 13 | NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
| 14 | we mourn, along with her family and friends, the passing of | ||||||
| 15 | Mary Ann "Bunny" Thelen; and be it further
| ||||||
| 16 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 17 | presented to the family of Mary Ann Thelen as an expression of | ||||||
| 18 | our sympathy.
