| 2 | | WHEREAS, Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is a |
| 3 | | discipline of personal beliefs that incorporates exercise, |
| 4 | | meditation, and principles based on truthfulness, compassion, |
| 5 | | and forbearance; its millions of practitioners work to attain |
| 6 | | inner peace, good health, and better skills to deal with stress |
| 7 | | and conflict in life; and

| 8 | | WHEREAS, Although rooted in ancient Chinese spiritual |
| 9 | | tradition, Falun Gong was first taught publicly in China by Mr. |
| 10 | | Li Hongzhi, the founder of the practice, in 1992; Falun Gong |
| 11 | | spread quickly through word-of-mouth, with tens of millions of |
| 12 | | Chinese citizens finding greater health and spiritual |
| 13 | | well-being through the practice; and
|
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Falun Gong actively works to bring about a |
| 15 | | peaceful resolution to the persecution of Falun Gong in China |
| 16 | | and improve the future of the world's most populous country; |
| 17 | | these actions have led to 4 Nobel Peace Prize nominations for |
| 18 | | its founder, Li Hongzhi; and

| 19 | | WHEREAS, Since 1992, over 100 million people of all ages |
| 20 | | and backgrounds in over 80 countries worldwide have become |
| 21 | | healthier, happier, and more altruistic through their practice |
| 22 | | of Falun Dafa; and
