HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Hadiya Z. 
4Pendleton of Chicago, who passed away on January 29, 2013; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Hadiya Pendleton was born on June 2, 1997, in 
6Chicago to Cleopatra and Nathaniel Pendleton; she was a 
7sophomore and honor student at King College Prep High School; 
8and
  
 
9    WHEREAS, Hadiya Pendleton, along with the King College Prep 
10Band, participated in the Presidential Inauguration Heritage 
11Festival near Washington, D.C. for President Obama's second 
12term; while in Washington, the band visited the Washington 
13Monument and the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial; and
  
 
14    WHEREAS, Hadiya Pendleton played on the volleyball team for 
15her school; and
  
 
16    WHEREAS, Hadiya Pendleton dreamed of going to Northwestern 
17University and talked about becoming a pharmacist, journalist, 
18or a lawyer; and
  
 
19    WHEREAS, Hadiya Pendleton is survived by her mother and 
20father and a host of friends; therefore, be it

1    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
2NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
3we mourn the passing of Hadiya Pendleton, and we extend our 
4sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew 
5and loved her; and be it further
  
 
6    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
7presented to the family of Hadiya Pendleton as an expression of 
8our deepest sympathy.
