HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate the Southeastern Illinois College (SIC) Forensic Falcons on winning the 2013 State championship speech tournament; and

WHEREAS, The SIC Forensic Falcons stomped the competition at the Illinois Intercollegiate Forensic Association's State tournament held March 1-2, 2013; 75% of SIC's speeches made the cut for the final round of competition, beating out much larger schools in the northern Illinois region; and

WHEREAS, The SIC Forensic Falcons will have a public presentation of their award winning speeches at the annual Night Before Nationals event on April 4, 2013, in the George T. Dennis Visual & Performing Arts Center Theatre; and

WHEREAS, The SIC Forensic Falcons will end their season by traveling to Woodland Hills, California, for the Phi Rho Pi National tournament April 14-21, 2013; it with be the 40th year that the Forensic Falcons have competed in the national competition; they have placed within the top 5 community colleges nationwide for more than 25 years and won 3 national tournament championships under the tutelage of coaches Gary Allen, George Dennis, Dr. Jonah Rice, Paul Cummins, and Tyler Billman; and

WHEREAS, The Southeastern Illinois College Forensic Falcons are Nick Volkening, Nick Mott, Austin Winters, Jeremiah Brown, Benjamin McGuire, Zachary Hanks, Tre Ingram, Nicole York, Corrine McDaniel, Hannah Rodgers, and Bethany Oxford; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that congratulate the Southeastern Illinois College (SIC) Forensic Falcons on winning the 2013 State championship speech tournament; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the Southeastern Illinois College Forensic Falcons as an expression of our esteem and respect.
