| 2 | | WHEREAS, Alcohol is the most commonly used and abused drug |
| 3 | | among youth in the United States; and |
| 4 | | WHEREAS, Alcohol use by persons under the age of 21 is a |
| 5 | | major public health problem; and
|
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Underage alcohol abuse is associated with school |
| 7 | | problems, such as higher absence and poor or failing grades; |
| 8 | | and
|
| 9 | | WHEREAS, The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has |
| 10 | | found that reducing underage drinking will require |
| 11 | | community-based efforts to monitor the activities of youth and |
| 12 | | decrease youth access to alcohol; and |
| 13 | | WHEREAS, The Illinois House of Representative is committed |
| 14 | | to the education and protection of the children of Illinois; |
| 15 | | therefore, be it |
| 16 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
| 17 | | NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
| 18 | | we encourage all school districts in this State to establish |
| 19 | | educational programs to inform parents about the dangers of |
| 20 | | serving alcohol to minors and the prohibition on serving |
