| 1 | HOUSE RESOLUTION
| ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives are pleased to recognize the Joliet Area | ||||||
| 4 | Community Hospice on the occasion of its 30th anniversary; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, The Joliet Area Community Hospice is a | ||||||
| 6 | not-for-profit hospice established in 1982 under the tutelage | ||||||
| 7 | of Rosemary Bowe, the first executive director; it has served | ||||||
| 8 | over 21,000 terminally-ill persons, their loved ones, and | ||||||
| 9 | caregivers with dignity in the counties of Will, Grundy, and | ||||||
| 10 | Kendall along with parts of Cook, DuPage, and Kankakee; and
| ||||||
| 11 | WHEREAS, 1986 saw the Joliet Area Community Hospice receive | ||||||
| 12 | full licensing from the State of Illinois Department of Public | ||||||
| 13 | Health and Mary Jo Smith named the second executive director; | ||||||
| 14 | and | ||||||
| 15 | WHEREAS, Duane Krieger became the Joliet Area Community | ||||||
| 16 | Hospice's third executive director in 1992; and | ||||||
| 17 | WHEREAS, The Joliet Area Community Hospice opened the first | ||||||
| 18 | free-standing hospice home in the State of Illinois on May 4, | ||||||
| 19 | 2004; and
| ||||||
| 20 | WHEREAS, The Joliet Area Community Hospice has an | ||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | established pediatric program dedicated to serving infants, | ||||||
| 2 | children, and their families; it has a Pride, Honor, and | ||||||
| 3 | Dignity Veterans Hospice program; and
| ||||||
| 4 | WHEREAS, The Joliet Area Community Hospice receives | ||||||
| 5 | financial support from the United Way of Will County, the | ||||||
| 6 | United Way of Grundy County, and thousands of individuals, | ||||||
| 7 | business owners, and social and civic organizations; and
| ||||||
| 8 | WHEREAS, The current CEO of the Joliet Area Community | ||||||
| 9 | Hospice, Rick Kasper, took over in 2009; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 10 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
| 11 | NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
| 12 | we recognize the Joliet Area Community Hospice on the 30th | ||||||
| 13 | anniversary of its founding and thank the administrators and | ||||||
| 14 | employees past and present for the compassionate and valuable | ||||||
| 15 | services they provide; and be it further
| ||||||
| 16 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 17 | presented to the Joliet Area Community Hospice as an expression | ||||||
| 18 | of our esteem and respect.
