HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate James T. Sullivan on the occasion of his retirement as business manager of Plumbers Local 130; and

WHEREAS, James Sullivan was initiated into Plumbers Local 130 on October 14, 1965, as an apprentice plumber while working for Wesensten Plumbing; he excelled in school and ran a close second in the annual apprentice contest which was then held at Purdue University; and

WHEREAS, James Sullivan received his Journeyman card and then went to work for Great Lakes Plumbing, where he worked on many prominent buildings such as McCormick Place and the Willis Tower; he rose through the ranks at Great Lakes Plumbing, eventually becoming general superintendent of plumbing; he left in 1990 to work full time for Plumbers Local 130; and

WHEREAS, James Sullivan's first role at Plumbers Local 130 was that of sergeant-at-arms in 1975, then executive board vice-president, and eventually financial secretary-treasurer in 1990; he was appointed assistant business manager in February 2002, elected business manager in July 2002, and then re-elected for a total of 3 terms; and

WHEREAS, James Sullivan has served on many of the local union boards, including pension, welfare, legal, and many assorted other committees; he was general chairman of the St. Patrick's Day Parade for 10 years; and

WHEREAS, James Sullivan has been married to Jeanette Stockman since May 11, 1968; they have 5 children and 12 grandchildren; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate James Sullivan on his retirement, thank him for his service to his community, and wish him the best in all his future endeavours; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to James Sullivan as an expression of our esteem and respect.
