HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are pleased to congratulate James T. Sullivan
4on the occasion of his retirement as business manager of
5Plumbers Local 130; and
 
6    WHEREAS, James Sullivan was initiated into Plumbers Local
7130 on October 14, 1965, as an apprentice plumber while working
8for Wesensten Plumbing; he excelled in school and ran a close
9second in the annual apprentice contest which was then held at
10Purdue University; and
 
11    WHEREAS, James Sullivan received his Journeyman card and
12then went to work for Great Lakes Plumbing, where he worked on
13many prominent buildings such as McCormick Place and the Willis
14Tower; he rose through the ranks at Great Lakes Plumbing,
15eventually becoming general superintendent of plumbing; he
16left in 1990 to work full time for Plumbers Local 130; and
 
17    WHEREAS, James Sullivan's first role at Plumbers Local 130
18was that of sergeant-at-arms in 1975, then executive board
19vice-president, and eventually financial secretary-treasurer
20in 1990; he was appointed assistant business manager in
21February 2002, elected business manager in July 2002, and then
22re-elected for a total of 3 terms; and

1    WHEREAS, James Sullivan has served on many of the local
2union boards, including pension, welfare, legal, and many
3assorted other committees; he was general chairman of the St.
4Patrick's Day Parade for 10 years; and
 
5    WHEREAS, James Sullivan has been married to Jeanette
6Stockman since May 11, 1968; they have 5 children and 12
7grandchildren; therefore, be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
9NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
10we congratulate James Sullivan on his retirement, thank him for
11his service to his community, and wish him the best in all his
12future endeavours; and be it further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to James Sullivan as an expression of our esteem and
15respect.
