HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate Bernard (Bernie) L. and Beverly (Bev) J. Thieben on the occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary; and

WHEREAS, Bernie Thieben was born November 1, 1932, and worked for 37 years at Caterpillar, Inc., served as supervisor of Medina Township for 36 years, and owned a local auto body shop for 12 years; and

WHEREAS, Bernie Thieben is also a past president of Peoria County's Township Official Association and was chairman of the Township Officials of Illinois Risk Management Association, a member of the Peoria County Republican Central Committee, Odd Fellows, Lions Club, and an active member of the Illinois Scottish Rite Lodge as a 32nd degree Mason and Shriner; he currently is an Elder at La Prairie Presbyterian Church and a board member of the Chillicothe-based Rescue 33 Ambulance Service; and

WHEREAS, Bev Thieben was born Beverly J. Buskirk on June 19, 1940, and served as an administrative assistant for Medina Township for 25 years, worked at the Peoria County Courthouse in the Election Office for 5 years, operated a beauty salon for 7 years, served many years as a room mother at Mossville Junior High, was a member of the Peoria County Rural Council on Aging Board, and helped co-found the Mossville Softball Summer League in 1972, one of the first in Central Illinois; and

WHEREAS, Bernie Thieben and Bev Buskirk married April 13, 1963, at the United Methodist Church in Mossville in a ceremony performed by H. Keith Gaither, Jr. M.G.; and

WHEREAS, On April 13, 2013, Bernie and Bev Thieben will be joined in celebration by their children, Denise Thieben, Le Ann and Guy Krulac, Paulette and Jim Korte, James and Betsey West, Scott L. West, Bernard H. Thieben, and Elizabeth McKeever; their grandchildren, Joshua Broughton, Dawn Davis, Nicole Jarvis, Nicholas Thieben, Stephanie West, Christopher Panek, Robert West, Jessica West, Rachael West, Michael Krulac, Jimmy Krulac, Scott C. West, Amy Costa, Tasha McKeever, Kent McKeever, and Rachel Korte; and their great-grandchildren, Jacob Broughton, Dakota Williams, Hunter Jarvis, Bryson Jarvis, Olivia Whitehurst, Logan Thieben, Mason Thieben, Ezekiel Krulac, Kaelyn Krulac, and Christian Jarvis; and will be missing their child, Ricky Thieben, who passed away; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Bernie and Bev Thieben on their 50th wedding anniversary and wish them many more happy years together; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Bernard L. Thieben and Beverly J. Thieben as an expression of our esteem and respect.
