HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Joel 
4Clayton Johnson Sr. of Peoria, who passed away on April 4, 
52013; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, Joel Johnson Sr. was born on August 17, 1962, in 
7Chicago to Bishop Joseph H. and Annie Jo (Hunter) Johnson; he 
8graduated from Woodruff High School in 1980; and
  
 
9    WHEREAS, Joel Johnson Sr. was an ordained minister, peer 
10mentor, and board member at New Hope Apartments and its 
11president's counsel; and
  
 
12    WHEREAS, Joel Johnson Sr. was employed by ComEd for over a 
13decade and held various positions at Caterpillar, Cilco, UPS, 
14and ADM; and
  
 
15    WHEREAS, Joel Johnson Sr. was preceded in death by his 
16mother, Annie Jo Gordon; and
  
 
17    WHEREAS, Joel Johnson Sr. is survived by his children, Joel 
18Clayton Johnson Jr. and Gabrielle Armani Johnson; his father, 
19Bishop Joseph Johnson; his siblings Jonathan (Dedra) Johnson 
20Sr., Illinois State Representative Jehan (Derrick) Booth,

1Jamal (Rosie) Gordon, Ralph (Gloria) Wrightner, Roger Jordan, 
2Lydell Gordon Jr., Chantay (Corey) Gray, Shando (Don) Harris, 
3Antoinette (Cornelius) Donald, and Daniel (Liz) Billsbury; and 
423 foster brothers; therefore, be it
  
 
5    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
6NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
7we mourn the passing of Joel Johnson Sr., and we extend our 
8sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew 
9and loved him; and be it further
  
 
10    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
11presented to the family of Joel Johnson Sr. as an expression of 
12our deepest sympathy.
