| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 | | Representatives are pleased to congratulate Nate Martin as he |
| 4 | | retires from the Rockford Park District Board of Commissioners; |
| 5 | | and
|
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Nate Martin was appointed to the Rockford Park |
| 7 | | District Board of Commissioners in 1995 to fill a 2-year |
| 8 | | unexpired term; he was subsequently elected to the board in |
| 9 | | 1999, 2005, and 2007; he has served with distinction for 3 |
| 10 | | 6-year terms, with 3 years as president from 2004-2007; and
|
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Nate Martin was appointed to the Illinois |
| 12 | | Association of Park Districts Board of Trustees in January 2008 |
| 13 | | and continues to serve as vice-chairman; and
|
| 14 | | WHEREAS, In 2010, Nate Martin received the Mike Cassidy |
| 15 | | Commissioner Community Service Award from the Illinois |
| 16 | | Association of Park Districts and the Illinois Park and |
| 17 | | Recreation Association; and
|
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Nate Martin has advocated expanding district |
| 19 | | services to meet the after-school recreational needs of area |
| 20 | | youth and has strongly supported the Recreation Grants |
| 21 | | partnerships that currently fund 30 community agencies and |
|

| 1 | | programs in delivering recreational programs throughout the |
| 2 | | summer; he was instrumental in the planning and development of |
| 3 | | Southwest Community Park and has volunteered his time and |
| 4 | | talent for several community organizations in addition to the |
| 5 | | park board, such as the Alignment Rockford Steering Committee; |
| 6 | | and
|
| 7 | | WHEREAS, Some of Nate Martin's most notable projects are |
| 8 | | Levings Lakers (a fishing program for kids), Rec Nights for |
| 9 | | middle school youth, and the Masai Teen Challenge program; and |
| 10 | | he has been a champion for youth sports and activities to keep |
| 11 | | the youth of our community off of the streets; and
|
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Nate Martin's retirement is official in April 2013 |
| 13 | | and a reception will be held on May 8, 2013; and
|
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Nate Martin is married to Marge and they have a |
| 15 | | son, Chad, and a daughter, Marcia; therefore, be it
|
| 16 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
| 17 | | NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
| 18 | | we congratulate Nate Martin as he retires from the Rockford |
| 19 | | Park District Board of Commissioners; and be it further

| 20 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
| 21 | | presented to Nate Martin as an expression of our esteem and |
