HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives are pleased to congratulate University of 
4Illinois Champaign-Urbana sophomore, Jesse Delgado, on winning 
5the 125 pound 2013 NCAA Division I wrestling championship; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, Jesse Delgado won the Big Ten and NCAA 
7championships for the University of Illinois on March 23, 2013; 
8he is the first University of Illinois wrestler to be named 
9national champion at his weight class and the first wrestler at 
10any weight from the school to win a national championship since 
112003; and
  
 
12    WHEREAS, Jesse Delgado finished the 2012-2013 season with a 
1327-3 record and an overall career record of 61-11 and is a 
142-time All-America recipient; and
  
 
  
15    WHEREAS, Jesse Delgado is a graduate of Gilroy High School 
16in Gilroy, California,  where he was a 4-time Central Coast 
17Section champion; he attended California Polytechnic State 
18University before transferring to the University of Illinois; 
19and
  
 
20    WHEREAS, Jesse Delgado was born on August 26, 1992, to 
21Jesus Delgado and Elizabeth  Lopez and has a younger brother,

2    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
3NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
4we congratulate Jesse Delgado on winning the 125 pound 2013 
5NCAA Division I wrestling championship; and be it further
  
 
6    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
7presented to Jesse Delgado as an expression of our esteem and 
8respect.
