2 | | WHEREAS, Irvana Wilks has served the people of Mount |
3 | | Prospect as mayor for 8 years; and
|
4 | | WHEREAS, Prior to her tenure as mayor, Irvana Wilks served |
5 | | for 14 years as a trustee on the Mount Prospect Village Board |
6 | | and 5 years as a member of the Business District Development |
7 | | and Redevelopment Commission before that; and
|
8 | | WHEREAS, Irvana Wilks served on the Cook County Economic |
9 | | Development Advisory Committee for 15 years; and |
10 | | WHEREAS, Irvana Wilks has been an active participant in |
11 | | numerous charitable activities, including Kiwanis, United Way |
12 | | of Mount Prospect-Prospect Heights, and the League of Women |
13 | | Voters; and |
14 | | WHEREAS, Irvana Wilks played a leading role in the economic |
15 | | development of Mount Prospect, overseeing the conversion of |
16 | | Randhurst Mall into the vibrant new Randhurst Village as well |
17 | | as maintaining a balanced budget after the recent financial |
18 | | crisis; and
|
19 | | WHEREAS, Irvana Wilks was a leader in addressing flooding |
20 | | and sewage issues through her service as director of North Cook |

1 | | County Soil and Water Conservation, her work with the Solid |
2 | | Waste Agency of Northern Cook County, and her promotion of the |
3 | | Levee 37 project, which protected homes along the Des Plaines |
4 | | River which had previously been vulnerable to flooding; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Irvana Wilks was an advocate for the poor and |
6 | | disabled, serving as vice-chair of the Northwest Housing |
7 | | Partnership and enabling the construction of Myers Place in |
8 | | Mount Prospect, a supportive-housing development for people |
9 | | with mental illness; and
|
10 | | WHEREAS, Irvana Wilks has been an energetic, effective, and |
11 | | motivated leader of the Mount Prospect Village Board who has |
12 | | fostered an atmosphere of respect, consensus, and achievement, |
13 | | and has made herself and her office available to all segments |
14 | | of the community; therefore, be it

15 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
16 | | NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
17 | | we are pleased to honor Mayor Irvana K. Wilks on her years of |
18 | | service to the citizens of Mount Prospect, and on all of her |
19 | | many accomplishments, and we wish her well in all of her future |
20 | | endeavors; and be it further
