HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The two bombings that occurred on April 15, 2013 
3during the running of the 117th Boston Marathon represent a 
4terrible tragedy and horrific act of terrorism against the 
5United States; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, The people of the State of Illinois mourn those 
7who lost their lives or were wounded during the attacks; and
  
 
8    WHEREAS, Police officers, firefighters, members of the 
9National Guard, emergency medical personnel, and other first 
10responders acted heroically in responding to the attacks, 
11preventing additional loss of life; and
  
 
12    WHEREAS, The residents of Massachusetts are a resilient 
13people and will recover from this tragedy; and

  
 
14    WHEREAS, The people of the United States will always 
15remember the victims of the previous acts of terrorism that 
16have occurred in the United States and will always stand 
17together as one people; therefore, be it
  
 
18    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
19NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
20we condemn the senseless attack in Boston, Massachusetts, on

1April 15, 2013; and be it further
  
 
2    RESOLVED, That we offer our heartfelt sympathy and 
3condolences to the victims' families and wish the best for 
4those who are recovering from their injuries; and be it further
 
5    RESOLVED, That we honor the heroic efforts of the medical 
6personnel who are tirelessly providing care for the victims of 
7this horrific act of violence and show our admiration for the 
8courage of the first responders and the many citizen heroes who 
9aided the injured and tended to the community; and be it 
10further
 
11    RESOLVED, That we affirm that the citizens of this State 
12stand proud  with the City of Boston, the people of 
13Massachusetts, and all Americans as we rise up from this 
14tragedy and stand together as patriots.
