| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 | | Representatives are pleased to congratulate Hattie Dansby on |
| 4 | | her 95th birthday which occurred on April 19, 2013; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Hattie Dansby was born in Nashville, Tennessee, on |
| 6 | | April 19, 1918; she graduated from Pearl High School in |
| 7 | | Nashville, Tennessee, and received her bachelors of arts in |
| 8 | | elementary education from Tennessee State University in 1943; |
| 9 | | she married Charles Dansby in 1943 and they moved to Chicago; |
| 10 | | and
|
| 11 | | WHEREAS, After Hattie Dansby raised 5 children, she pursued |
| 12 | | her career with the University of Chicago teaching children to |
| 13 | | read; she also worked as support staff in the Chicago Public |
| 14 | | School System, working with children with speech and hearing |
| 15 | | disabilities; she retired in 1998; and
|
| 16 | | WHEREAS, Hattie Dansby has received recognition from the |
| 17 | | Institute of Community Leaders and the Mayor's Youth Award for |
| 18 | | her volunteer services in Chicago; and
|
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Hattie Dansby has been active in numerous clubs |
| 20 | | and organizations including the 400-500 East 91st Street Block |
| 21 | | Club, the Pearl High Alumni Association, the Tennessee State |
