HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, It is highly fitting that the Illinois House of Representatives pays honor and respect to the truly great individuals who have served our country; and

WHEREAS, Operation Welcome You Home is a local program providing respectful, thoughtful, uplifting, and joyous homecomings for all of our returning servicemen and women and their families; and

WHEREAS, On April 6, 2013, Operation Welcome You Home and the village of Plainfield welcomed home Marine Kevin McSorley, as his one year deployment to Afghanistan with the 3rd Battalion concluded; and

WHEREAS, Kevin McSorley attended Crystal Lawns Elementary School, Timber Ridge Middle School, and graduated from Plainfield Central High School in 2009; and

WHEREAS, Kevin McSorley chose to join the Marine Corps and completed his basic training at the Marine Corps Recruiting Depot, San Diego in June of 2011; he subsequently completed his training in motor transport at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri; and

WHEREAS, Kevin McSorley was stationed at Twentynine Palms, California, and was deployed to Afghanistan in April of 2012; and

WHEREAS, Kevin McSorley comes from a long line of family members that have served our country, including Leo Dilger (U.S. Army), John McSorley (U.S. Army), Bob McSorley (U.S. Army), and Anthony Alcobia (U.S. Air Force); therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we thank and honor Marine Kevin McSorley and welcome him home from his tour in Afghanistan, where he fought for the very freedoms we exercise here in Illinois; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Marine Kevin McSorley as an expression of our sincere gratitude for his service.
