| 2 | | WHEREAS, Former United States Representative Lane Evans |
| 3 | | was first elected to the 17th Congressional District seat on |
| 4 | | November 3, 1982, and represented the Quad-Cities in Congress |
| 5 | | for 24 years; during his tenure, Rep. Evans worked to retain |
| 6 | | Rock Island Arsenal jobs, assist veterans, and move the |
| 7 | | Quad-Cities forward in countless ways; and
|
| 8 | | WHEREAS, There is a growing movement in the Quad-Cities to |
| 9 | | name, or rename, a street in the Quad-Cities area for former |
| 10 | | Rep. Evans; and
|
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Evans' legacy of tireless service to the |
| 12 | | people of the Quad-Cities should be honored with a street |
| 13 | | bearing his name; therefore, be it
|
| 14 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
| 15 | | NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
| 16 | | we urge the cities of Rock Island, Moline, East Moline, and |
| 17 | | Silvis to rename a street after former United States |
| 18 | | Representative Lane Evans; and be it further

| 19 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
| 20 | | presented to the City Councils of Rock Island, Moline, East |
| 21 | | Moline, and Silvis.
