HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of  Kevin 
4Sanders, formerly of Plainfield, who passed away on April 18, 
52013, as a result of the West Fertilizer Plant Co. explosion in 
6West, Texas; and
  
 
7    WHEREAS, Kevin Sanders served with Plainfield's emergency 
8management agency from 2006 to 2011; in addition to being an 
9EMT for the Bruceville-Eddy Volunteer Fire Department in Texas, 
10he worked as a vet tech at Hewitt Veterinary Hospital and the 
11Waco Animal Emergency Clinic, while teaching part time at 
12McLennan Community College in Waco, Texas; and
  
 
13    WHEREAS, Kevin Sanders was in the middle of an EMT class 
14when the blast occurred; he immediately responded with the 
15first emergency responder team, during which he passed away; 
16and
  
 
17    WHEREAS, Kevin Sanders graduated with honors from Marist 
18High School in Chicago in 1997; he subsequently earned an 
19associate's degree in science from Moraine Valley Community 
20College, an associate's degree of applied science in veterinary 
21technology from Parkland College, and a bachelor's degree in 
22animal science from the University of Illinois; and

1    WHEREAS, Kevin Sanders was an altar boy at Sacred Heart 
2Church in Palos Hills; and
  
 
3    WHEREAS, Kevin Sanders is survived by his wife, Sarah, and 
4his son, Reeve; and
 
5    WHEREAS, The love for Kevin Sanders from his family shone 
6forth on April 27, 2013, when he returned from Texas for the 
7last time; he was remembered and honored at funeral services on 
8May 1, 2013 at the church of his youth, Sacred Heart Church; 
9therefore, be it
  
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
11NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
12we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of 
13Kevin Sanders; and be it further
  
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
15presented to the family of Kevin Sanders as an expression of 
16our sympathy.
