| 1 | HOUSE RESOLUTION
| ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, Robert L. Whisler has served as a Commissioner of | ||||||
| 3 | the Arlington Heights Park District for 13 years, including | ||||||
| 4 | three terms as President; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, During Robert Whisler's tenure, the District was | ||||||
| 6 | recognized as an Illinois Association of Park | ||||||
| 7 | Districts/Illinois Park and Recreation Association | ||||||
| 8 | "Distinguished Park and Recreation Agency"; the District also | ||||||
| 9 | received the National Gold Medal for Excellence in Park and | ||||||
| 10 | Recreation Management; and
| ||||||
| 11 | WHEREAS, Robert Whisler was influential in the promotion | ||||||
| 12 | and development of numerous intergovernmental agreements with | ||||||
| 13 | local school districts, park districts, villages, businesses, | ||||||
| 14 | and the Village of Arlington Heights; and
| ||||||
| 15 | WHEREAS, Robert Whisler was instrumental in acquiring 7 | ||||||
| 16 | acres of land, valued at $6,394,000, and in securing over | ||||||
| 17 | $4,647,000 in local, State, and federal grant money for the | ||||||
| 18 | Arlington Heights Park District; and
| ||||||
| 19 | WHEREAS, Robert Whisler has assisted in the acquisition, | ||||||
| 20 | development, and renovation of premier Arlington Heights Park | ||||||
| 21 | District recreation areas and facilities, such as the Camelot, | ||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | Frontier, Heritage, and Olympic swimming pools, the Davis | ||||||
| 2 | Street Service Center, the Forest View Racquet and Fitness | ||||||
| 3 | Club, Frontier Park, the Heritage Tennis Club, Melas and | ||||||
| 4 | Memorial Parks, the Olympic Indoor Swim Center, the Pioneer | ||||||
| 5 | Park Pool and Community Center, and Sunset Meadows Park; and
| ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, Robert Whisler has played an active role in the | ||||||
| 7 | Arlington Heights community as a member of the Arlington | ||||||
| 8 | Heights Rotary Club, president of the Arlington Baseball | ||||||
| 9 | Boosters, and as a coach for over 20 years of the Arlington | ||||||
| 10 | Heights American Legion Baseball Team; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 11 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
| 12 | NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
| 13 | we honor Robert L. Whisler on the occasion of his retirement | ||||||
| 14 | after 13 years of service to Arlington Heights, recognize his | ||||||
| 15 | many accomplishments during those years, and wish him well in | ||||||
| 16 | all of his future endeavors; and be it further
| ||||||
| 17 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 18 | presented to Robert Whisler as an expression of our esteem and | ||||||
| 19 | respect.
