| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 | | Representatives are pleased to recognize the Metropolis Public |
| 4 | | Library as it celebrates its 100th anniversary; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, The Metropolis Public Library was founded in 1913 |
| 6 | | with funds donated by businessman and philanthropist Andrew |
| 7 | | Carnegie; between 1883 and 1929, 1,689 "Carnegie libraries" |
| 8 | | were built in the United States; and
|
| 9 | | WHEREAS, The Carnegie Centennial Celebration will take |
| 10 | | place on June 8, 2013, at the Metropolis Public Library; |
| 11 | | therefore, be it
|
| 12 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
| 13 | | NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
| 14 | | we recognize the 100th anniversary of the founding of the |
| 15 | | Metropolis Public Library; and be it further
|
| 16 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
| 17 | | presented to the Metropolis Public Library as an expression of |
| 18 | | our esteem and respect.
