HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to congratulate  Joan Snyder on the 
4occasion of her retirement as President of the Central Illinois 
5Advocates for Lives Interrupted by Parkinson's Support 
6Organization (Calipso); and
  
 
7    WHEREAS, After Joan Snyder was diagnosed with Parkinson's 
8disease, she became determined to live her life to the fullest 
9and find a cure for this debilitating disease; to this end, she 
10created the Central Illinois Advocates for Lives Interrupted by 
11Parkinson's Support Organization (Calipso) to advance research 
12for Parkinson's disease in central Illinois; and
  
 
13    WHEREAS, Over the last 20 years, Calipso, under the 
14leadership of Joan Snyder, has raised over $100,000 to fund 
15Parkinson's disease research at Bradley University; and
  
 
16    WHEREAS, While raising awareness of Parkinson's disease in 
17the Peoria community, Joan Snyder has offered support and 
18encouragement to others suffering from this disease from around 
19the world; with the support of the Parkinson's Alliance, she 
20helped author "Voices from the Parking Lot: Parkinson's 
21Insights and Perspectives"; the book, published by the 
22Parkinson's Alliance, raises money to help fight the disease,

1but also allows people not suffering from Parkinson's disease 
2to learn more about the fight against the disease; and
  
 
3    WHEREAS, After over 20 years of spearheading fundraising 
4and outreach efforts for Calipso, Joan Snyder has announced her 
5retirement from her position as President of the organization; 
6and
  
 
7    WHEREAS, Joan Snyder serves as a model of hard work, 
8integrity, and dedication for the people of the State of 
9Illinois; therefore, be it
  
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
11NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
12we congratulate Joan Snyder on the occasion of her retirement 
13and wish her continued success and happiness in the future; and 
14be it further
  
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
16presented to Joan Snyder as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
