| 1 | HOUSE RESOLUTION

| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives are pleased to recognize the installation of | ||||||
| 4 | Michelle M. Kohut as the president of the Women's Bar | ||||||
| 5 | Association of Illinois (WBAI); and
| ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, Michelle Kohut joined the law firm, Corboy & | ||||||
| 7 | Demetrio, in 2004 and practices in all areas of personal injury | ||||||
| 8 | law, including cases arising from automobile collisions, | ||||||
| 9 | medical malpractice, construction negligence, premises | ||||||
| 10 | liability, product liability, and railroad negligence; and
| ||||||
| 11 | WHEREAS, Michelle Kohut is very active in local and | ||||||
| 12 | national bar associations, including the Chicago Bar | ||||||
| 13 | Association, the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association, and the | ||||||
| 14 | Women's Bar Association of Illinois, where she has been serving | ||||||
| 15 | as First Vice-President; she has served as president of Women | ||||||
| 16 | Everywhere-Partners in Service Project, Inc., a community | ||||||
| 17 | service project which seeks to open doors to women and children | ||||||
| 18 | in need and to expose high school girls to the challenging | ||||||
| 19 | careers in the legal profession; she has served on the board of | ||||||
| 20 | directors of Heartland International Health Center, which is | ||||||
| 21 | dedicated to improving the health of persons living in several | ||||||
| 22 | Chicago communities; and

| 1 | WHEREAS, Michelle Kohut was recognized in 2007 as one of | ||||||
| 2 | the "40 Illinois Attorneys Under Forty to Watch" by the Law | ||||||
| 3 | Bulletin Publishing Company and has been honored with the | ||||||
| 4 | designation of Illinois Super Lawyer, Rising Star each year | ||||||
| 5 | since 2008; and
| ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, Michelle Kohut received her law degree in 2002 | ||||||
| 7 | from Loyola University of Chicago Law School; prior to joining | ||||||
| 8 | Corboy & Demetrio, she was a judicial law clerk to William D. | ||||||
| 9 | Maddux, presiding judge of the Law Division of the Circuit | ||||||
| 10 | Court of Cook County; and
| ||||||
| 11 | WHEREAS, Michelle Kohut will be sworn in as the WBAI | ||||||
| 12 | president at the 99th Annual Installation Dinner, which will | ||||||
| 13 | take place on June 13, 2013, at the Palmer House Hilton in | ||||||
| 14 | Chicago; this year's theme is "Empowerment Through | ||||||
| 15 | Networking"; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 16 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
| 17 | NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
| 18 | we recognize and congratulate Michelle Kohut on becoming the | ||||||
| 19 | Women's Bar Association of Illinois' president and wish her all | ||||||
| 20 | the best as she assumes the position; and be it further
| ||||||
| 21 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 22 | presented to Michelle Kohut as an expression of our esteem and | ||||||
