HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Dakota Wayne Land, who passed away on May 13, 2013; and

WHEREAS, Dakota Land was born on February 1l, 1996, at Fort Campbell, Kentucky; his parents are First Sergeant Dale W. Land and Teresa Michelle Land; and

WHEREAS, Dakota Land was a 10th grade student who especially enjoyed listening to music, motorcycles, and cars; and

WHEREAS, Dakota Land created a bucket list and kept it inside his closet; the list has numerous items, including traveling to the Bahamas, Maine, and Mexico, riding in a hot air balloon, deep sea diving, and skydiving; his list also included items unique to Dakota and those with cystic fibrosis, live past 45, graduate from college, stay out of the hospital for a year, and get married; other items on the list speak of his character, such as help someone in a huge way, help out a homeless man, become closer with God, go on a mission trip, save a life, and help my mom and dad greatly; and

WHEREAS, Dakota Land adored his mother and, when he was conflicted, he would just say, "whatever makes you happy, mom"; he had a wonderful relationship with his sister and idolized his older brother, and would practically leap with excitement whenever Shawn came home; he was a proud uncle to his nephew, Mason; he also had a special friendship with a girl he met on a swing set many years ago who he knew for most of his life; and

WHEREAS, Dakota Land was well known by his family and friends for his positive attitude, charm, and caring nature; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Dakota Wayne Land; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Dakota Land as an expression of our sympathy.
